Collection: Cremisan
Cremisan is one of the world’s most unique Wineries. Located around a Monastery near Bethlehem, it borders both the West Bank and Jerusalem. Its principle: “cultivating peace through the vine”.
Using grapes grown from Shaffa (inside the Palestinian Territories) and Bet Gemal (within Israel), it provides professional training and opportunities for local people from all sides. It stands alone in its quest to bring harmony through wine.
Founded in 1885 by an Italian missionary Fr. Antonio Bellone, Cremisan was originally built to care for the orphans in Bethlehem, offering them both shelter and a religious and vocational education. Very soon the Winery was opened, not only to create a source of income to fund their work but also to provide work for the local community.
The terraced slopes, beautifully cultivated vineyards and grapes picked by hand produce excellent harvests. Under the watchful eye of Oenologist Dr. Riccardo Cotarella, Cremisan are producing wines of international repute with its latest haul of gold and silver medals coming from the San Fransisco International Wine Competition in late 2017.
The wines are organically produced using indigenous grape varieties with vines being tended without the use of pesticides and chemicals.
“Drinking our wine is sweet both for the palate and the heart, because with a simple gesture you can contribute to the sustainability of our communities and the continuation of our important social endeavours, especially in a land yearning peace”
